D2Learn Analysis

D2Learn Analysis

“Do you have desire?”
“Of course, I have. My big desire is to learn. I want to have good profession, then great career and good life!”
“I understand you! Can you explain me what kind of classes are desire to learn? Are they media?”
“Yes, if you are Pima Community College student, you can take classes online. You can register online and choose a class online”.
“Are they specific?”
Yes! They are very specific! You should know very well Word 2010, Internet, Computer, and Keyboarding. You should have PC or laptop and schedule your personal time.
There is a great quotation about media:
“The medium is the message” – Marshall McLuhan’s said.
When you take D2Learn class, you have great messages. I read the syllabus online and follow all instructions in the syllabus and assignments. You create your own written works: post, e-mails to your class-mates and instructor. You receive e-mails and you study online materials and read e-books. You listen to voice-mails and send voice-mails. You watch video for studying course materials and sometimes you create your video. And every time you have a new message which is your new knowledge and your new experience. Finally, you take a test online.
While you study everything in the online class, you receive new credits for you future profession. When you will start your career in business or you are going to work in the modern office, you already will have not only knowledge, but you will have a great experience in working online. Try to focus on that!
If you are Pima Community College student, you would like to register for One of D2Learn class. If you already registered, go to Academic tab and then open D2Learn. You will see your online classes. It is very valuable, because you save your time. People say, “Time is money!” It is true. You shouldn’t go to your regular class, you just open your account and you can work online. You can do it home, or go to Learning Center and take any computer available. When you open the online class, you will see everything you need: content for every week, assignments, group and class discussions, quizzes and open forum. Feel free! You study and everything was done for you.
You can ask me, “Where is a message?”
“All materials for class are messages. For example, you take WRT26 class. Today you must read the short story “Replay All”, by Robin Hemley. This story is a message for you! Read it carefully and create your post about this story. In this way, you will post a new message for your classmates. Be creative! Your message must be unique and interesting for all readers. When your new post is ready, it is a new message for your class-mates and teacher. Then you will read all posts of your classmates and it is a deep analysis created by all your class. In this way, many students created one big analysis of one story. Many messages became one big message.
Studying online is a good way to be graduated in a College or University. Graduation in the College is a great value. People believe that the graduated person is very professional and can create a good career. Nowadays, new media is very important for good education. Every specialist must be well-known with new media. Business, Selling, Advertising are very prospering in the Internet. It is very popular now to create Website for every corporation and businesses. The competitions between corporations can be failed without using Internet opportunities.  That is why, when you take classes online, you became more familiar with media and you going to be good specialist in the near future.

  1. You picked something different and unique as I would never thought about D2L even though it’s used for our class. D2L is part of new media because it allows students at Pima to work on homework/class work on their own schedule using a computer and the Internet. Your analysis of the “message” is quite interesting.

A few questions I have are:
    • How does D2L relate to popular culture?
    • Do you believe that part of the “message” of D2L is the actual desire to learn by using the ability of new media for course work?

    1. Christina, thank you for comment and for you questions. I will try to answer them.
      • How does D2L relate to popular culture?
A lot of students involved in the education and studying process. They study language, movies, literature, and computers and so on. The college education gives us opportunity to be involved in the popular culture. For example, I came from Moldova in 2007 and I couldn’t speak English very well and of course I didn’t involve in the society. While I was studying language, I was studying computer, Internet, Computer Fundamentals, and Microsoft and so on. D2Learn help me a lot in this process. In the class HON101 we study the development of popular culture nowadays. And I think we are involved in popular culture. Because online we can create our posts, stories in class WRT126. I know that the poetry class is online. D2Learn became very popular for students.
      • Do you believe that part of the “message” of D2L is the actual desire to learn by using the ability of new media for course work?
Yes, I believe that D2Learn is a big part of a message. It is new media for thousands of students. And we know that “The Medium is a message” (Marshall McLuhan).
In the class HON 101 we are writing blogs. Nowadays bloggers are very popular in culture and we became a part of popular culture.

      Tatiana.

  2. I really like you choice. It is very different from what other people are doing and something that I would have never thought of doing. Even though this is a very good choice I also don't know how it has to do with the popular culture. D2L is not something that people choose to have or something that people log into everyday because they really love it. It's something that is assigned to you and we no choice have to do everyday. I do understand how it is a way for student to maybe like or even make it so they would be more comfortable.

  3. Hi Tatiana! I do agree with everyone else that you choice a very different and unique new media to discuss. I agree with Jeff in that I'm not sure how it's really a new media that many people want to go to and how it really relates to pop culture, however, you do seem to back up your thoughts very well, so I say that you can write an essay about it!
Something I would say you should elaborate on is how much the D2L online classes differ from an in-class face-to-face experience. Why do people want an online experience? Is it more personal? Is it less personal? Why is face-to-face classes not as desired? I also agree Christina in that in your essay you should address how D2L is affected by pop culture.

    1. Hi, Aiza! Now I work with my essay. Thank you for your question!
I think that all education is affected by pop culture, because people desire to learn. They understand that without good knowledge nobody can find a good, interesting job. People desire to have good job and good salary. When people work they have good level of their live and they sing good songs, for example, but if they don’t work they live badly and they sing sad songs. In my opinion, level of live change the level of culture. Good education helps people to live better and they change their points of view in many things, including culture like entertainment, media, commercial points of view and so on.
